Afghanistan 1980 - 1989
Afghanistan 1980. Following the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, December 24, 1979, I illegally crossed one of the passes with Pakistan. Starting from Peshwar with a group of mujahideen where their political offices are located, "Jebhe-Nejat-e Melli" (National Liberation Front) of the leader Prof. Sibghatullah Mojaddedi, I travel 1200 km in my three months of stay, totally on foot through the valleys and mountains of the provinces of Konar, Nangarhar, Paktika etc. without ever touching Kabul, garrisoned by the Red Army. Along the way, refugees, destruction, of which the first Soviet soldiers fell on a front which at the end of the occupation will result in 26,000 deaths in the ranks of the Red Army, and 75,90000 deaths among the guerrillas, plus 1 million and a half between civilians. I will return again until the Soviet withdrawal in 1989 with the mujahideen of commander Mulla Najibullah, warlord in the province of Kandahar.
